ד"ר רחל מייקלסון-כהן הינה מומחית במיילדות, גינקולוגיה ופריון, ומומחית-על בגנטיקה רפואית. הינה רופאה בכירה במרכז הרפואי שערי-צדק באגף נשים ויולדות ובמכון לגנטיקה רפואית.
ד"ר מייקלסון-כהן עלתה לישראל מארה"ב בשנת 1985, וסיימה את לימודיה בביה"ס לרפואה של האוניברסיטה העברית והדסה בירושלים בשנת 2002. את התמחותה ביילוד, גינקולוגיה ופריון ביצעה במרכז הרפואי שערי-צדק, בניהולו של פרופ' עוזי בלר. בסיום ההתמחות ביצעה בנוסף התמחות-על בגנטיקה רפואית במכון הגנטי בניהולה של פרופ' אפרת לוי-להד, אותה סיימה ב-1.2012.
ד"ר מייקלסון-כהן זכתה במספר פרסים בתחום המחקרי, ומרצה בתחומהבביה"ס לרפואה של האוניברסיטה העברית. היום היא עוסקת במחקר רפואי בגנטיקה טרום-לידתית וכן סרטן השד והשחלה. כבעלת מומחיות בשני תחומים, היא מרכזת את היחידה לאבחון גנטי טרום לידתי, ועוסקת באופן ייחודי בייעוץ גנטי טרום לידתי לנשים עם מחלה גנטית במשפחה או עם ממצאים חריגים בעובר אשר התגלו בהריון. כרופאה בכירה באגף נשים ויולדות, היא פעילה הן בחדר לידה והן במרפאות הרב-תחומיות הייחודיות של אבחון טרום לידתי, ונשים בסיכון גבוה לסרטן השד והשחלה.
Dr. Rachel Michaelson-Cohen was born in the USA, and moved to Israel in 1985. She studied medicine in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Hadassah Medical School, from where she graduated in 2002. She performed her residency in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Fertility in the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem, chaired by Prof.Uziel Beller, and was board certified in 2009. She then performed her fellowship in the Department of Medical Genetics, Shaare Zedek Medical Center, chaired by Prof. Ephrat Levy-Lahad, and was board certified in 2012. Dr. Michaelson-Cohen has been awarded for a number of her clinical and scientific studies and is a well-known lecturer in her field. Her research currently focuses on medical genetics, chiefly prenatal genetics and hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. As a specialist in both gynecology and medical genetics, her clinical work is mostly in prenatal genetic diagnosis. As an attending physician in Shaare Zedek, she works in labor & delivery, the multidisciplinary prenatal diagnosis unit, and the BRCA carrier clinic.
